SEEME IS PROUD TO PRESENT
THE  STORY OF ARTIST:
Adrian Florin Pop

“One day with no inspiration I found myself lost in front of a white canvas, thinking about the affirmations of two great artists: "do not seek perfection, because you’ll never find it" (Salvador Dali) and "action is the fundamental key to success" (Pablo Picasso). Captive between the two great artists, my mind wonders frenetically towards Van Gogh. He painted himself compulsively, self portraits in quantities that become a cliche in the artwork of a lot of artists over time. It seems that I found a subject, self portrait, both as a declarative level, an artistic approach, and above the image. Aren’t we to a lesser or a large extent narcissists? Aren’t we, as artists, beings with fundamental need of affirmation, even when there is a lack of ideas or when the limit of creativity it was long ago exceeded? So the solution used for a very long time, is here today. Only that, furthermore, I don’t feel it, I don’t resonate with it, and even worst, in these moments it seems to me more of an ego masturbation process, a relief on canvas, and the only excitement for my intellect, the only challenge left is the cliche of the self imagery.”
