Since time immemorial, art has been a way to connect to and learn from each other, as well as a platform for social commentary and a means to envision the future. Our new initiative - ‘A Broad Canvas’ will introduce you to artists from different backgrounds, cultures, and points of view, in which ideas, personal journeys, and politics are welcome.

A Broad Canvas will launch our first series with a focus on four black artists, Teddy Mitchener, Taiwo Isimi, John Powell, and Tamary Kudita, beginning with photographer Teddy Mitchener. ..American by birth, Teddy now lives and works in Nairobi, Kenya with his wife and children

Artists are interpreters of their time, seeing deeply, and at times differently, offering new ways of perceiving and understanding. But what draws an artist to their subject? What alchemical pull plays on their heart and fosters a connection to a model, a vista, or an idea?

Artists Amy Haslehurst, Erik Nieminen, Johannes Laumer, and Alex Janero speak to us precisely because their connection to their subject is palpable; more than inspiration, each of these artists seeks to find synergy with their subject, sparked and discovered in the process of creation, perhaps both known and unknown until revealed.

There’s something different about Autumn; a sense of energy, movement, and change; the world is in transition from one state of being to another, there’s a hint of unpredictability in the air, and we see it outwardly and feel it internally. How do visual artists convey process and change, turmoil, or a state of flux? The following artists, Sherre Wilson-Liljegren, Adam Daniel Watkins, Alice Zilberberg, and Mark Cross, beguilingly capture our attention with their visual acumen and simultaneously ask us to contemplate perplexing truths, dualities and illusions……
