My intention is to visually portray our ever-changing energetic systems.

I’m an artist, mostly, because I’m wired that way. If I don’t paint or draw for a period of time - my health goes. It’s like someone knocks the wind out of me and I’m weak until I start again.

McGivern’s grandmother was a painter. She used to examine her work in amazement during childhood. It was a totally different side of her and her life. She was always compelled to draw and slowly, over time that compulsion has led her to where she is now. Knowing she had a familial knack for creative expression, she became confident to pursue the visual arts academically, and now professionally.

Images and visions are more attractive to me than words and concepts whenever I’m creating. Shapes, motion, and color are always the way I work out what I am trying to express.

There is a part of every artist that feels like an outsider looking in, and that’s a good thing. It’s a skill set to be able to move in and out, but always stay connected to the creative source.
