SEEME IS PROUD TO PRESENT
THE  STORY OF ARTIST:
Silvia Rossi

“I love what the eye does not see. That "something hidden" that creates depth and inte-rest. In my works I explore unlikely scenarios combining abstract elements with realistic figures, fawns and antelopes but also palm trees and forests. During these years and inspired by my many journeys, I am taking my art to a more intense and intimate level through a search for the sublime, for what is lost to sight, a set of wonder and tension that shakes the soul of 'observer. Apparently tranquil landscapes but always with something hidden and imperceptible, abstract images of perfect life that is not as perfect as it seems. Stimulating the mind of the observer to a more profound and psychological approach is the goal I pursue: to glimpse what is human reality, the most obscure and profound feelings that are not immediately seen but which, now more than ever, are part of of everyday life: loneliness, a sense of estrangement, mental limits, anxiety and educational cages.
The attempt, the desire, the continuous search for freedom from every scheme in real life is what I want to represent. The continuous desire to let the color go to the free gesture of the brush and the constant attraction for a rigor of lines and geometries creates an alternation of styles between abstractionism and post-minimalism with paintings where I represent the cities, the full metropolises of people in their micro-worlds where the windows, represented by so many colored squares or overlapping lines, become the only contact with the outside. Even the use of different materials reflects this continuous alternation: wood and canvas, acrylics and materials, brushes and spatulas and lately cotton threads dragged instead of the brush.”
