“During the creation process I isolate myself at my studio with my impressions and memories of my visit to Cambodia. I distort my facial features with face paint and put myself mentally in the shoes of one of the survivors I got to meet. Exploration of color, composition and brush stroke energy follow in a form of an oversized self portrait to convey isolated, solemn, bitter emotion of survivors.”
