GREG DOROSH

"If you hear a voice within you say, ' you cannot paint', then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced”. Vincent van Gogh.

For Gregory Dorosh, the creation of art is a joyous experience and his work reflects admiration for the places he depicts, similar to Impressionist artists. “My father was a draftsman, which inspired me to design houses with floor plans at a young age, though in my teens, I switched to painting. I admired Goya, Rembrandt, and Renoir, who sparked my desire to be an artist. I learned primarily through self-directed study, though my favorite workshop was with Daniel Greene, who I admire and had a great impact on me.”

Dorosh is inspired by images of Canadian and European landscapes and also paints from his imagination. “Using a photo editing program, I modify the picture to my vision on how the composition will look. I choose my color scheme and the placement of the elements of the composition as I go and thus the landscape paintings do not appear exactly as the picture I reference from”. Dorosh now works out of his studio in Decherd, TN
